Hamburger

Saturdays I will either post a tip or an easy recipe, or I may just forget altogether! So hang in there with me!
It seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done that I want too!

Teach my kiddos, take care of them, clean the house, get them breakfast, lunch and dinner, and did I mention take care of all 4 of them? :) As crazy as it can get, I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING!!!

So.... When I buy hamburger or turkey, I buy it in BIG packages. I mean anywhere from a 5 pound package to a 10 pound package. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but I make my meat last a LONG time, unless it's sloppy joes or hamburger/turkey burgers!

After I get the meat home and the gazillion other things that I got put away, I brown that whole package of meat. Drain off the fat and let it cool down. Then I will either do 2 things, I will fill up a gallon size baggie and stuff it in the freezer, OR I will put how much I will use in a recipe in a sandwich baggie and then place all those baggies in a gallon size one and stick it in the freezer.

Like I said, it's a bit pricey, but usually the more you buy you save more per pound for buying bigger packages.

Plus, when you need browned beef or turkey for a recipe, all you have to do it pull it out of the freezer and defrost it! The great thing is if you forget to pull it out in the morning for your recipe, it doesn't take very long to defrost! :)

When I have meatballs on my menu I will go ahead and make them, put them on a cookie sheet to freeze, then place them in a gallon ziploc freezer safe ziploc baggie. That way all I have to do it cook them! If you want to get adventurous, you could even cook the meatballs and cool them, then place in a baggie then all you would have to do it re-heat it! :)
